Wanderers start the New Year in style

Valletta vs Sliema W. 1-3

Sliema Wanderers started the New Year in style as they returned to winning ways defeating ten-man Valletta 3-1.

Following a goalless first half, Sliema took the lead on 48 minutes thanks to Ivan Woods.

To make matters worse for Valletta, Gilbert Agius was sent off on 58 minutes. However they managed to level matters with a goal by Njongo Priso on 67 minutes.

However Sliema regained the lead through Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza nine minutes from time before the same player added another in stoppage time.

Njongo Priso was voted BOV Player of the Match.

Meanwhile Birkirkara are now second thanks to a 2-0 win over Hamrun Spartans.

Birkirkara took the lead on 33 minutes thanks to a goal by Shaun Bajada. In added time, Michael Galea doubled the score to seal the issue.
