Qormi seek revenge against Valletta

Joint-leaders Qormi will be seeking revenge as they take on Valletta in the big match from this weekend’s BOV Premier League programme. Qormi, who share the top spot with Birkirkara, lie two points ahead of the Citizens who had defeated the Yellows 2-0 in the first round.

Since the October 19 clash between the two sides, Qormi won six of the eight matches played, losing only to Birkirkara and being held to a 2-2 draw by Hibernians last week. With Birkirkara due to meet Hibernians on Monday, the team led by Jesmond Zerafa and Vince Carbonaro cannot afford any result other than a win in order to maintain the top spot.

Valletta’s last two outings were far from impressive as they lost 1-3 to Sliema Wanderers and were lucky to escape with a 1-0 win over Msida St. Joseph. Against Qormi, they will definitely be all out to return to winning ways and move on top the BOV Premier League table.

Valletta captain Gilbert Agius is ruled out through suspension but Irish striker Declan O’Brien should be back after skipping the game against Msida. Qormi will be lacking former Valletta midfielder Keith Fenech.
