Citizens hope to revenge first round defeat

Joint-leaders Valletta will be aiming for the three points on Saturday as they take on champions Hibernians in this weekend’s big clash.

In the first round, the Paolites were the first team to inflict a defeat on the Citizens thanks to a goal by Edward Herrera.

Five points separate the two teams as Valletta lead the table, together with Birkirkara, on 30 points while Hibernians are fourth on 25.

Valletta registered two narrow wins in their last two outings over Msida and Qormi. Hibernians, on the other hand, are coming from a series of five matches without defeat and held both Qormi and Birkirkara in two 2-2 draws in their last two outings.

The Citizens welcome back captain Gilbert Agius after skipping the last two games through suspension. Etienne Barbara will also be back for the Paolites after serving a one-match ban.
