Qormi, Sliema aim at returning to winning ways

Qormi and Sliema Wanderers will be aiming to return to winning ways on Sunday as they take on Tarxien Rainbows and Dingli Swallows respectively.

In the first game, Qormi face Tarxien. A 2-2 draw with Hibernians and a 0-1 defeat to Valletta in the past couple of weeks saw Qormi lose ground and are now third, four points behind leaders Valletta and one behind Birkirkara. Therefore against Tarxien, they will be all out to return to victory despite the absence of Keith Fenech and Massimo Grima who are both suspended.

The game will be no easy one as the Rainbows are also eager for points in their bid to secure a top six finish. They are currently third from bottom on 18 points but with a win over Qormi they could move fifth. David Camilleri and Gianluca Calabretta are both ruled out through suspension.

In the first round, Qormi defeated Tarxien 2-1.

Meanwhile in the second match, new Sliema Wanderers coach Mark Marlow will be making his debut as the Blues take on wooden-spoonists Dingli Swallows.

The Premier League campaign for Sliema has been highly disappointing as they lost seven of the fourteen matches played. Results that leave the Wanderers in sixth place, fourteen points behind leaders Valletta.

The Swallows will only hope to give Sliema a hard time as they try to bring to an end a negative run of ten successive defeats.

In the first round, Sliema defeated Dingli 2-0.
