Hefty bands for Birzebbuga, Mdina players

Four players of Second Division side Birzebbuga St. Peter’s and another two of Third Division side Mdina Knights were handed hefty bans following incidents which took place during the matches against Gzira United and Luqa St. Andrew’s respectively.

Birzebbuga duo Mark Ellul and Michael Ciappara were banned for eight months while Chris Bernard Farrugia was suspended for three months. Noel Tabone was suspended for two matches and was removed from team captain until the end of the season. Birzebbuga St. Peter’s coach Kenneth Costantino was banned for four matches.

Clint Caruana and Jean Paul Zammit of Mdina Knights were suspended for eight matches and seven matches respectively.

Meanwhile in Division 1, Matthew Sapiano (Melita) and Mark Pullicino (St. Patrick) were suspended for one match while Josef Felice (Gzira) was banned for one match in Division 2.

Albert Caruana and Ludvig Camilleri (Ghaxaq), Martin Portelli (Gudja) and Shawn Vella (Kalkara) were handed a one-match ban in Division 3.

In the Youth League, Emerson Vella (Gudja), Richard Vella (Sirens) and Justin Cilia (Zejtun) were suspended for one game.
