UEFA president arrives in Malta

UEFA president Michel Platini arrived in Malta on Tuesday afternoon in view of the UEFA Executive Committee meeting which will be held later this week.

The first appointment for Platini will be a meeting with the UEFA Vice-Presidents, including MFA president Dr Joe Mifsud, which will be held on Wednesday morning. In the afternoon, Michel Platini together with Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi will inaugurate the artificial turf and floodlighting system at the Pembroke Athleta Football Ground. A project which was co-financed by the MFA, UEFA HatTrick Programme, the Government of Malta and the club.

On Thursday morning, UEFA President Michel Platini and the UEFA General Secretary will be visiting the Prime Minister at the Auberge de Castille and will later, together with the other members of the UEFA Executive Committee, proceed to pay a courtesy visit to the President of Malta, Dr George Abela.

The first session of the UEFA Executive Committee meeting will be held on Thursday afternoon at 14:00 at the Grand Hotel Excelsior.

Later in the evening, as part of the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the National League and the 50th anniversary of MFA Full FIFA and UEFA Membership, Platini will be attending a concert by tenor Joseph Calleja which will be followed by a gala dinner at the Mediterranean Conference Centre

The second session of the UEFA Executive Committee meeting will be held on Friday morning.
