Six Premier League players suspended

Six Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner. The worst hit were Hamrun Spartans who had three players suspended – Roderick Fenech, Rupert Mangion and Ian Zammit.

Rupert Mangion was removed from team captain until the end of the season. On the other hand, Ian Zammit was suspended following an incident during a friendly match against Ferencvaros.

The other players who were suspended are Clint Caruana (Dingli), Lydon Micallef (Msida) and Kenneth Scicluna (Valletta).

The three Hamrun players together with Kenneth Scicluna are ruled out of the game Valletta vs Hamrun on Saturday. Clint Caruana will be missing the game Qormi vs Dingli while Lydon Micallef is ruled out of Msida vs Birkirkara on Sunday.

Meanwhile Clint Micallef (Balzan), Patrick Borg (Mqabba) and Sheldon Grech (Pietà) were banned for one match in Division 1 while Colin Ciantar (Lija), William Borg (Mellieha), Erin Azzopardi (Senglea), Jonathan Bugeja (St. Andrews), Anthony Lagana and Elton Calleja (Zebbug) were suspended for one match in Division 2.

Albert Busuttil (Kirkop), Nathaniel Falzon (Luqa), Omar Smeir (Mtarfa) and Clayton Bonello (Swieqi) were handed a one-match ban in Division 3. Daniel Scicluna (Kirkop), Lloyd Spiteri (St. George’s), Dione Vella (St. Venera) and Zurrieq trio Clint Agius, Lee Galea and Owen Grech were banned for one match in the Youth League.
