Givova confirm sponsorship agreement with Malta Football Association

Italian sportwear firm Givova announced that it has reached an agreement with the Malta Football Association to be its technical sponsor. Givova will replace another Italian sportswear company – Diadora – who was the association’s technical sponsor for the past three years.

Givova is a relatively new company which was founded in May 2008 by Giovanni Acanfora who was earlier the managing director of another Italian sportswear company – Legea.

The company is the technical sponsor of several football clubs in Italy and abroad, including Italian Serie A side Chievo, Italian Serie B sides Modena and Salernitana and French Second Division side Dijon, besides several basketball, volleyball, futsal and beach soccer teams. Malta will however be the first national team to wear Givova.

In a statement on Givova’s official website, the company said:

“The “project GIVOVA” has the objective to strengthen the brand and positioning it at the top levels in the sector, continuing to further improve the quality of materials used and the performance of every product, creating them all with fabric of the most advanced quality to ensure the maximum wear ability, freedom of movement and a constant level of temperature during all phases of sport’s activities, thanks to the lightness and the quality power of the material used. This mark has an integrated logistics platform, perfectly organized for the distribution of the products worldwide, with a particular attention to the huge market’s demands, offering therefore flexibility and speed of response to all needs of our customers at the top level and in any sector, especially with the pre and post sale services.”

“The sponsorship of the Malta Football Association should be the first of a long series. We have decided to link our brand to the Malta FA because we managed to find the right balance between the required investment and the commercial returns and image that the company would like to project. This sponsorship arrives at the end of a successful year during which the sponsorship of Chievo, Salernitana and Modena have launched the brand among the more established brands. With the first national team sponsorship, the brand would be established further.”

Giovanni Acanfora said he worked hard to secure the sponsorship of a national team as it was only in this way that Givova would show how serious and how strong their project was.

The Malta Football Association is expected to announce officially this sponsorship in the coming days, ahead of the international friendly match against Finland, during which the team will most probably wear the Givova kits for the first time.
