100 Anniversary Cup: Mosta, Sliema seek final place in semi-finals

Sliema Wanderers start as firm favourites to secure a place in the semi-finals of the National League 100 Anniversary Cup as they take on First Division side Mosta in the last quarter-final on Wednesday at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

The game was originally scheduled for the Hibernians Stadium last week but the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

Following the appointment of Mark Marlow as new coach, three wins in their last four games have put the Wanderers back on track. Following a 2-2 draw with Hibernians during the weekend despite being reduced to nine men, the Wanderers secured the fourth place and will start the second phase on 15 points, five behind leaders Valletta and Birkirkara.

Mosta, on the other hand, are currently fifth in Division 1 with eleven points from nine matches. They obtained five draws out of the last five matches, losing the other two games.

In the third and fourth round, Sliema defeated First Division sides San ?wann and St. Patrick 2-0 and 4-1 respectively. Mosta made it to the quarter-finals after beating Siggiewi 3-1 and Gharghur 4-1.

The winners will join Valletta, Tarxien Rainbows and Floriana in the semi-finals. The semi-final draws will be made during a Press Conference which will be held on Thursday afternoon at the Centenary Hall, Ta’ Qali.
