Under-17 side shares spoils with N. Ireland in friendly

The Malta Under-17 side shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with the Northern Ireland Under-16 side in the second of two friendly matches which were played at the MFA Training Grounds, Ta’ Qali. The game was part of the preparation of Charles Scerri’s side ahead of the UEFA Under-17 Championship Elite Round mini-tournament during which Malta will face Slovakia, Sweden and hosts England towards the end of next month.

Birkirkara’s Michael Camilleri converted a penalty just before the end of the first half to put Malta ahead but the visitors levelled matters after the break.

In the first match on Monday, Northern Ireland won 2-0.
