Maltese players abroad: Bogdanovic brace gives Barnsley precious points

Malta international striker Daniel Bogdanovic scored twice for Barnsley as the Tykes defeated Nottingham Forest 2-1 on Tuesday.

Bogdanovic headed Barnsley into an early lead at Oakwell on Tuesday night and fired his 14th goal of the season from the penalty spot midway through the second period.

Barnsley, who have a game in hand, are now twelfth on 49 points.

In Hungary, Andre Schembri made his league debut for Ferencvaros as he was included as a substitute in a goalless draw with Nyíregyháza Spartacus on Friday.

Schembri made his first apperance for the Hungarian side in a League Cup game against Paksi on Tuesday. He was included in the starting line-up together with Malta international goalkeeper Justin Haber.

Ferencvaros are currently tenth on 22 points.

In Italy, Andrei Agius played the whole ninety minutes for Melfi in a 2-2 draw with Gela. Melfi are currently ninth on 36 points.

Manny Muscat, on the other hand, played the whole ninety minutes for Wellington Phoenix in the 4-2 defeat to Sydney FC in the Australian A-League Preliminary Final. The team therefore failed to make it to the Grand Final but this was still the best achievement ever for the club.
