Four players suspended after FA Trophy quarter-finals

Four players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner after being sent off in the U*BET FA Trophy quarter-finals which were played on Saturday and Monday. The players are Ian Zammit (Hamrun), Alfred Effiong (Qormi), Pedro Dos Santos Calcado (Sliema) and Gilbert Agius (Valletta).

But while Zammit, Effiong and Agius will be missing the semi-finals which will be played in mid-May, Calcado will be missing the next league game against Birkirkara on Friday as the Wanderers were eliminated from the competition.

Meanwhile Alexander Barbara (Zurrieq) was banned for one match in Division 2 while in Division 3, Matthew Axiaq (Ghaxaq) and Giorgio Cumbo (Mtarfa) were also suspended for one game.

In the Youth League, Tarxien Rainbows had Albert Spiteri and Jesmond Scicluna, both banned for two matches, Mario Bajada and Melchior Grech, both banned for one match, while coach Paul Bugeja was handed a two-match ban. Chris Cutajar (Attard), Jean Claude Vella (Marsaxlokk), John Paul Grima (Mosta) and Glen Saliba (St. Patrick) were suspended for one game while St. Andrews assistant coach Chris Montford was banned for two matches.
