Second successive defeat for leaders St. Andrews

BOV Second Division leaders St. Andrews suffered a shock second successive defeat on Sunday as they lost 0-3 to Birzebbuga St. Peter’s.

Carlos Camenzuli scored twice for Birzebbuga with Ronnie Celeste scoring the other goal.

This result means that Lija, who are currently one point behind St. Andrew’s with a game in hand, could move on top should they beat Zebbug Rangers in their next game.

On Sunday, a hat-trick by Wayne Borg St John gave Mellieha a 3-0 win over Senglea Athletic.

St. Andrews lead the way with 38 points, followed by Lija on 37, Gzira 34, Birzebbuga 33 and Mellieha 29.
