BOV Second Division leaders Lija Athletic dropped two important points in the battle for promotion as they were held in a goalless draw by Senglea Athletic.

Lija lead the way with 41 points, three ahead of St. Andrews and four ahead of Gzira United. On Sunday, the Saints take on Zebbug Rangers and the Maroons face Zurrieq.

In another match on Saturday, Rabat Ajax defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 5-0. Justin Felice scored another two goals for the Magpies with Chris Schembri, Adam Smeir and Joseph Caruana scoring the other goals. Birzebbuga had two players sent off.

Rabat are now sixth on 23 points, followed by Zurrieq on 22, Zebbug and Senglea on 21, St. Venera 20, Gharghur 12 and Gozo 10. Gozo have already been relegated to Division 3.
