Under-21 side hosts Cyprus in friendly match on Sunday

The Malta Under-21 side will be facing Cyprus in a friendly match at the National Stadium on Sunday, kick-off at 20:00. The game will serve as preparation for Edwin Camilleri’s side ahead of the UEFA Under-21 qualifier against Ukraine on May 29 at Ta’ Qali.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Under-21 coach Edwin Camilleri said this game will be a good test for his players ahead of the difficult game against Ukraine. In their last outing the Maltese youngsters suffered a narrow defeat to Belgium away from home with a controversial penalty denying them a positive result.

With Valletta and Qormi due to play in the U*BET FA Trophy semi-finals, Camilleri had to leave their players out of his squad for the friendly against Cyprus.

The players selected by Camilleri and his assistant Emmanuel Farrugia are:
goalkeepers Henry Bonello (Vittoriosa), Steve Sultana (Nadur);
defenders Adrian Borg (Mosta), Owen Bugeja (Floriana), Cleaven Cassar (Pietà), Richard Chetcuti (Warrington), Beppe Muscat (Vittoriosa), Andrew Scicluna (Birkirkara), Clive Spiteri (Pietà);
midfielders Sergio Hili (San Gwann), Rowen Muscat (Birkirkara), Karl Pulo (Birkirkara), Quelin Refalo (Pietà), Mark Scerri (Sliema), Luke Sciberras (St. Patrick), Jonathan Xerri (Vitttoriosa), Joseph Zerafa (Birkirkara);
forwards Ben Camilleri (Hibs), Miguel Ciantar (Msida), Julian Galea (Melita), Terrence Vella (Mosta).

Sunday’s game will be controlled by referee Clayton Pisani, assisted by Ingmar Spiteri, Alan Camilleri and fourth official Alan Mario Sant. Entrance is free.

Malta vs Ukraine will be played on May 29 at the National Stadium, kick-off at 18:00. Tickets will be available at the gates for €5.
