The Lija Athletic Football Club, in collaboration with the Parliamentary Secretary for Consumers, Fair Competition, Local Councils and Public Dialogue, the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sport, the Kunsill Malti ghall-iSports and the Lija Local Council will be organising a Sports Festival in the Lija square on Sunday 6 June.

This Festival will include sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, handball, ABCS, water games, rugby and tennis and will aim to promote physical activity and increased practice of sports amongst people of all ages.

The festival will start off at 9am with a 2K fun run for children between the ages of 6 and 12 and a 5K fun run for children over 13 and adults. Participants in both events are allowed to complete the course by walk. All participants will be given a certificate of participation following the event.

This event is being organized to complement a varied programme of Championship celebrations organized by Lija Athletic Football Club on the occasion of winning the Second Division League and thus promoted to First Division in the 60th Anniversary since the club’s inception.

A 5-a-side Football Tournament is also being organized on Saturday 5th June at the Lija 5-a-side synthetic-turf pitch, adjacent to the Lija Primary School. The tournament kicks-off at 14.30hrs..
