Luke Dimech unveiled as new AEK Larnaca player

Former Malta international defender Luke Dimech was unveiled as a new player of Cypriot top division side AEK Larnaca. Dimech is the second player to move to AEK Larnaca this summer after Cameroon striker Njongo Doding Priso who joined the club from Valletta.

Dimech started his career in England with Lincoln City, moving to Malta in summer 1995 when he joined Sliema Wanderers. In 2002, Dimech signed for Shamrock Rovers in Ireland but six months later returned to Malta to play for Birkirkara. He then moved to England once again to play for Mansfield Town and eventually Chester City but in summer 2006, he joined Marsaxlokk. After one year, he joined Macclesfield but spent the last two years in Malta with Valletta.

AEK Larnaca, who were promoted from the second division at the end of last season, are now managed by former Valletta coach Ton Caanen. Jordi Cruijff is the team manager and Henk Theunissen is the assistant coach.
