Malta Under-17 go top after narrow win over St. Andrews

The Malta Under-17 side notched up their second win in as many matches to go top of the table in the Mosta FC Under-19 Challenge. They beat St. Andrews 1-0 in an interesting match that was played at a very high tempo. Glenn Chircop scored the all important goal in the first half to help his team to another three points that puts them at the top of the table with six points.

But the match of the day was between hosts Mosta and neighbours Mgarr United who served a treat for the many fans watching the match. Mosta cruised to a 2-0 lead by half-time and added a third early in the second half. It seemed that Mgarr were dead and buried, but they came back to save the game with three goals that rocked Mosta and the match ended all square at 3-3.

The classification reads as follows: Malta Under-17 6 pts from 2 matches; St. Andrew’s 4 pts from 3 matches; Mgarr United and Naxxar Lions 2 points from 2 matches; Mosta FC 1 point from 3 matches.

The tournament continues next Monday, 13th September with the following programme: 18.30 hrs: Mosta FC v Naxxar Lions; 20.30 hrs: Mgarr United v Malta Under-17.
