Zejtun Corinthians present new signings

Zejtun Corinthians presented their new signings ahead of the BOV Second Division League campaign which kicks-off this weekend with the first league game against Naxxar Lions on Sunday.

The team had a successful training camp in Sheffield last month and the collaboration between Zejtun Corinthians and Sheffield United continued and hopefully, the club and the nursery would benefit from this in the coming months.

There were only slight changes from the Zejtun squad, which claimed the BOV Third Division Championship and the Quick-Keno Second & Third Division Knock-Out. The Corinthians, in fact, signed Silvio Sciberras and Heathcliff Schembri from St. George’s, Adrian Carabott from Valletta, Ryan Cauchi from Qormi and Daniel Cosaitis from Hibernians. The club is also set to sign Ahmed Mohammed Harun who should increase the team’s potential in their league campaign.

The club thanked the sponsors who continued to support the club despite difficulties and the Supporters Club for continuing to work hard not only to attract more members to the club but also to organise support and other social activities.

Club secretary Carmelo Abela thanked the Nursery’s committee for their hard work as this should prove to be the future of the club.

He said that works on the football ground at the Girls’ Junior Lyceum are well underway with the installation of the artificial turf and artificial lighting. Other works include the embellishment of the boundary wall and the entrance for the premises. Abela thanked the volunteers who are working hard in order to complete the works.
He thanked the Malta Football Association, the Director General of the Education Division, the Head of the St. Thomas Moore College Girls’ Junior Lyceum and the Kunsill Malti ghall-Isport.

Carmelo Abela said that the club’s objective will be that of challenging for promotion to Division 1. He said that a city like Zejtun deserves to play at least in the First Division. The Corinthians, who also won their respective group in the Second & Third Division Knock-Out, also aim at winning the competition.
