Spartans aim at regaining sole leadership

Hamrun Spartans will be aiming at regaining sole leadership in the BOV Premier League as they take on Floriana on Sunday.

The Spartans are currently third on six points, two behind leaders Valletta. After winning their first two games, they suffered a 1-3 defeat to Sliema in their last outing and are therefore eager to return back to winning ways.

Floriana, on the other hand, suffered a 0-1 defeat to Marsaxlokk in their last game and target a positive result on Sunday in order to climb out of the lower part of the table. Kiril Dzhorov returns for the Greens following a one-match ban.

In the second match, Marsaxlokk take on Hibernians.

The Southseasiders are still unbeaten, having collected five points following draws with Tarxien and Sliema and a narrow win over Floriana. Hibernians, on the other hand, beat Floriana 3-1, drew 2-2 with Valletta and lost 1-2 to Birkirkara.

Peter Pullicino is ruled out for Marsaxlokk due to a suspension.
