Hamrun Spartans issued a statement to condemn incidents which occurred during the BOV Premier League match against Floriana, clarifying some issues which were reported in some sections of the media (and not maltafootball.com).

Out of the five persons arraigned in court, only two were committee members and another one was a member of the Supporters Club.

The statement, signed by Hamrun Spartans media officer Emanuel Fenech, says that the two committee members were not involved in the clash but only intervened in order to stop the fight. At no particular moment, did they stop the police from carrying out their duties. They intervened after the person who had managed to jump over the barriers and into the pitch was allowed to jump back into the stand.
