Leaders hope to extend positive run

Leaders Valletta could move seven points clear on top the BOV Premier League table should they beat Sliema Wanderers on Friday in the only match in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

The Citizens are the only unbeaten side in the Premier League collecting fourteen points from the six matches played so far. They defeated Tarxien Rainbows 5-2 and Marsaxlokk 2-0 in their last two outings.

Sliema, on the other hand, are currently sixth on the eight-point mark, winning two and losing two with the other two matches ending in draws. The Wanderers disappointed in their last two outings after being held in a goalless draw by Qormi and losing 1-2 to Tarxien.

Mark Scerri will hopefully return for the Blues but Alex Muscat, Steve Bezzina and Clayton Failla are all ruled out injured. Valletta’s Jesmond Zerafa has the full squad at his disposal except for Kenneth Scicluna.

The two teams had already met this season with Sliema beating Valletta 2-0 to claim the Euro Cup.
