San Gwann Nursery coaches for Italy training camp

Seven coaches from the San Gwann Youth Football Nursery will be attending a Training Camp at Lavello in the Basicilata region between the 14th and the 20th of November. The training and cultural programme is being funded by the European Union through the Leonardo Da Vinci Life Long Learning Programme. The Nursery was ably supported by the European Union Programme Agency (EUPA) in Mint Street, Valletta.

The Coaches will be headed by Nursery Head Coach Sandro Zammit Fava.

They group shall be visiting and working closely with AS Melfi who compete in the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione where the coaches will follow hours of Professional Training by the Italian club coaches. They will also conduct training sessions with the academy of the club and that of the Scuola Calcio Lavello.

The training programme will also include participation in Physical Education sessions at the Scuola Elementare of Lavello.

The aim of this programme is to study the different aspects of coaching, the well-being of children through Physical Education and Nutrition, and the observance of the different cultural characteristics between the two countries.

The San Gwann coaches will also have the opportunity to visit and observe an Agro Tourism project between the towns of Lavello and Venosa, and conclude the cultural programme by visiting the Shrine of Padre Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo, in line with the clubs’ policy of maintaining the spiritual element truly alive within the Nursery.

The San Gwann Nursery have also applied for other international activities planned with other European Partners for the future using similar European Union funded programmes.
