Malta drops one place in FIFA Ranking

Malta lost one place and is now 169th in the Coca-Cola FIFA World Ranking which was published on Wednesday.

The team did not play any matches over the past four weeks and will be in action on Wednesday evening in another EURO 2012 qualifier in Zagreb against Croatia.

Among the other European countries, Malta is still 51st. Lying ahead of Malta are Iceland (110), Wales (111, down 7), Faroe Islands (131, up 2), Luxembourgh (133, up 2), Kazakhstan (137) and Liechtenstein (158, up 1). The only two countries lying behind Malta are Andorra (202) and San Marino (203).

The November edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking contains only one change from the previous month inside the top ten. While Spain, the Netherlands and Brazil have retained their positions out front, Egypt are back among the ten best teams at the expense of Russia.

The results of 34 new ‘A’ international matches were factored into the current edition of the world ranking, bringing the total number of matches taken into account this year to 673. Almost half of the matches played this month (16 games) were qualifiers for the Gold Cup, meaning that it was mainly teams from the Caribbean who enjoyed big gains in points and places in the November edition of the ranking.
