UEFA Under-19, Under-17 Championship draws held in Nyon

Malta was drawn with Austria, Denmark and Albania in the UEFA Under-19 Championship and with Spain, Poland, Montenegro in the UEFA Under-17 Championship in the qualifying rounds for the 2011/12 editions. The 2011/12 UEFA European Under-19 Championship and the UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying round draws were made in Nyon on Tuesday.

In the UEFA Under-19 Championship qualifying round, 48 teams were split into 12 groups with Malta being drawn in Group 12 – a mini-tournament which will be played in Austria between the 5th and 10th October against hosts Austria, Denmark and Albania.

The top two in each group plus the third-placed team with the best record against the leading pair in their section joining the top three seeds in the elite round in spring 2012, which will produce seven finalists to join Estonia.

The 52 countries in the qualifying round draw of the UEFA Under-17 Championship have been split into 13 groups of four, to be played as single-venue mini-tournaments in autumn 2011. Malta will be playing in Group 11 – mini-tournament which will be played in Montenegro between the 19th and 24th October against Spain, Poland and hosts Montenegro.

The top two in each group plus the two third-placed teams with the best record against the leading pair in their pool progress to the elite round in spring 2012, which will produce seven finalists to join Slovenia.
