Andrei Agius set for US Triestina trial

Malta international defender Andrei Agius will be joining Italian Serie B trial as the team arrives in Malta on Monday for a five-day training camp.

Scouts from Triestina, under the guidance of director general Marco Cernaz, have been observing the player for the past months while playing for both AC Melfi and the national team.

Contacted by officials from the Triestina Soccer School Malta, Agius said that earlier this month, Triestina general secretary Stefanno Bazzacco wrote to Melfi requesting permission to offer the Maltese international the chance to attend the training camp and play in the triangular tournament against Valletta and Qormi.

Agius thanked the Triestina officials for this opportunity and promised to give his best during the training camp and the tournament.

After a short spell with FK Zemun in the former Yugoslavia, Andrei Agius played for several clubs in Sicily and southern Italy namely, Sporting Mascalucia, AC Martina Franca, Messina, Igea Virtus, SS Cassino and finally AS Melfi since last January.

Meanwhile the contingent of US Triestina arrives on Monday at 13:30 on a flight from Rome. The squad will be under the guidance of new coach Valter Savioni who replaced Ivo Iaconi on Thursday.

On Thursday, Triestina will be facing Qormi and Valletta in the Capodanno Cup at the National Stadium. The first game will be Qormi vs Valletta at 18:30.

strikers Luigi Andrea Della Rocca, Denis Godeas, Massimiliano Lunetti, Ettore Marchi, Alessandro Gherardi, Mustafa’ Nukic.

The visit by Triestina is being co-ordinated by the Triestina Soccer School Malta.
