St. Andrews International Football Tournament 2010

St. Andrew’s International Football Tournament has today entered in its’ third day. During these three days the Luxol Stadium hosted hundreds of parents who came to support their talented children, who to the satisfaction of all present, gave an impressive display of football, played in a very respectful atmosphere.

The first two days were dedicated for children from categories 2003, 2002, 2001 and 1998 as we assisted to a festive of fun football that produced also quite a good number of goals.

The Tournament now has just started the final stage with the 1997 Category. On their first visit on the Luxol grounds, Agrigento from Sicily, are doing quite well as they have won both matches played, netting 10 goals. Scottish team Raith Rovers who arrived this evening will play their first match against Melita.

Attending the Tournament is Signor Vitale from the Inter Milan Academy who came over to scout for possible talented youngsters participating at Luxol.

1997 Category Results : Group A: Paola H 4 – Valletta 1, St Andrew’s 1 – Agrigento 5, Valletta 0 – Agrigento 5, Paola 3 – St Andrew’s 0. Group B: Tarxien R 0 – Melita 1, Mosta 5 – Tarxien R 1, Mosta 0 – Melita 1. At the moment Melita are leading Group A with 6 points while Agrigento and Paola H are sharing top of the table in Group B.

Also at Luxol, this morning, around 65 young players started a three day training camp under the guidance of coaches from the Newcastle United Football Academy. Coaches from St Andrew’s FC and from the participating Nurseries in the Tournament will be attending this Training Camp.
