Seven Premier League players suspended

Seven Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following last weekend’s matches from the BOV Premier League. The worst hit were Vittoriosa Stars and Birkirkara who had three players and two players respectively banned for next weekend’s games.

Edison Luis Dos Santos, who was sent off in the defeat to Sliema, Jeffrey Chetcuti and Stephen Wellman are ruled out of Vittoriosa’s next game against Floriana on Sunday. On the other hand, Birkirkara duo Angus Buhagiar and Paul Fenech are ruled out of Marsaxlokk vs Birkirkara on Saturday.

Valletta goalkeeper Andrew Hogg will be missing the top-of-the-table clash against Tarxien on Sunday while Josef Mifsud of Sliema will be unavailable for the game against Qormi on Saturday.

In Division 1, Admir Dzanovic (Lija), Andrew Caruana Scicluna and Maxime Batel (Melita), Dominic Mifsud (Pietà), Neil Chetcuti and Nicky Vella Petroni (St. Andrews) were suspended for one game.

Zejtun Corinthians striker Oldi Majtara was banned for two matches in Division 2 while Matthew Genuis (Zurrieq) was banned for one match.

Eight players were banned for one match in Division 3: Colin Ciantar (Attard), Jeremy Gatt (Fgura), Jean Paul Abela (Ghaxaq), Stefan Farrugia (Gozo), Sinclair Camilleri (Kalkara), Darren Caruana (Kirkop), Diansand Brincat (Marsa) and Jonathan Grech (Sirens).

In the Youth League, Nicholas Mifsud Bonnici and William Camilleri (St. Andrews) and Victor Bouvet (St. George’s) were all banned for two matches while Larson Cauchi (St. George’s) and Glenn Azzopardi (Hamrun) were suspended for one match.
