M'Xlokk, Vittoriosa target precious points

Marsaxlokk and Vittoriosa Stars will both aim at earning precious points on Friday as the two face each other in a clash from the BOV Premier League at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

The Southseasiders need just two points from the last two games to secure a place in the Championship Pool as they currently lie in fifth place on 22 points, three ahead of Hamrun Spartans and five ahead of Qormi. With a win, they would make sure of avoiding the Relegation Pool. They collected eight points from the last four matches – two draws with Hibernians and Valletta and wins over Birkirkara and Hamrun Spartans.

However Vittoriosa will be aiming at returning to winning ways as a win over Marsaxlokk would enable them to leapfrog Hibernians, handing them the wooden spoon. After beating Hibernians 2-1 in their previous outing, Vittoriosa lost 0-1 to Birkirkara last Sunday.

The Stars registered a comfortable 3-0 win over the Southseasiders just a couple of weeks ago in the U*BET FA Trophy second round. In the first round, the two teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Peter Pullicino and Trevor Templeman are ruled out through suspension for Marsaxlokk but Rumen Galabov will be back after serving a one-match ban.
