After securing promotion to Division 1, Zejtun Corinthians were declared champions of the BOV Second Division after defeating Gzira United by the odd goal in five. For the Corinthians, this was the second consecutive championship after winning the Third Division title last season.

It was no easy match for Zejtun as the Maroons were leading the score twice courtesy of goals by Keith Bonello but each time the Corinthians equalised, first with Kenneth Abela and then with Silvio Sciberras. Adrian Carabott notched the winner.

Meanwhile Mellieha moved second thanks to a 6-0 win over Mgarr United. This result condemned Mgarr to playing in Division 3 next season.

Fabiano Bassi, Daniel Cremona, Philip Camilleri, Mark Vella and Kevin Gauci scored the goals for Mellieha, the other being an own goal.

Mellieha are second on 35 points, followed by Rabat on 34, Naxxar 33, Birzebbuga 31, St. Patrick 30 and Zebbug 27. Five teams, including Zejtun, will be promoted to Division 1.
