Tarxien, Hamrun share spoils in 3-3 draw

Tarxien Rainbows and Hamrun Spartans shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw in a clash between the bottom two teams in the Championship Pool.

The Rainbows took the lead on the 4th minute when off a Gianluca Calabretta corner from the right, Daniel Mariano Bueno headed the ball home past goalkeeper Omar Borg.

On 16 minutes, Borg came to the rescue for Hamrun with a good save on Daniel Mariano Bueno and five minutes later, on a shot by Ricardo Costa from outside the area.

Sergio Pacheco De Oliveira doubled the score on 28 minutes when a shot by Daniel Mariano Bueno was partially saved by Omar Borg and he took the rebound, placing the ball at the back of the net.

Daniel Mariano Bueno, served by Sergio Pacheco from the left, was unlucky to hit the crossbar seven minutes in the second half. On the other side of the pitch, substitute Peter Anizoba had a shot from close range saved by Curmi.

Hamrun reduced the gap on 67 minutes when off a Dyson Falzon freekick from the right, Rupert Mangion headed the ball past Curmi.

Four minutes later, Dyson Falzon went close to equalising, heading just wide off a cross by Lee James Agius.

However on 73 minutes, Peter Anizoba levelled matters as he hit hard past the Tarxien custodian following a cross from the left by Dylan Kokavessis.

Five minutes later, Ricardo Costa made it 3-2 for Tarxien with a shot from the edge of the area which beat goalkeeper Omar Borg.

The Spartans restored equilibrium on 83 minutes when off a corner from the right by Dylan Kokavessis, Massimo Grima headed the ball in the direction of Gaetan Spiteri who headed the ball from close range.

Daniel Mariano Bueno was voted BOV Player of the Match.
