Valletta FC are interested in signing Italian striker Nicola Amoruso according to an Italian website focussing on the transfer market tuttomercatoweb.com.

The website states that the player is willing to restart his career after a season on the sidelines with Serie B side Atalanta.

Valletta FC president Victor Sciriha aims at having the club move further than the first two rounds of the UEFA Champions League. During a press conference which was held last week, Sciriha had also announced that during next month’s Annual General Meeting he will be putting forward a proposal to turn Valletta FC into a company.

A product of Sampdoria, Nicola Amoruso made his Serie A debut in December 1993. He then played for Fidelis Andria and Padova, before joining Juventus, in summer 1996. Amoruso was on the books of the bianconeri for five years, although he spent one year on loan at Perugia. Later he played for Napoli, Como, Modena, Messina, Reggina, Torino, Siena and Parma before joining Atalanta in January 2010.

Three years ago, the Citizens made an attempt to sign another established Italian striker Marco Delvecchio, formerly of Inter and Roma and later were reportedly interested in appointing Lorenzo Amoruso as coach.
