Financial boost for Wanderers in upgrading of MIDI Sports Complex

Mr Robert Arrigo, Parliamentary Assistant within the Ministry of Finance, on behalf of the National Lotteries Good Causes Fund Committee, has presented a contribution of €45,000 to Sliema Wanderers FC President Steve Abela to help out financially in the upgrade of the new MIDI Sliema Wanderers Sports Complex which forms part of The Point Complex in Sliema.

The new state of the art complex includes a full eleven-a-side synthetic football pitch, two indoor football pitches, dressing rooms, committee rooms, gym, aerobics room, conference room and other amenities.

It is the government’s policy to help out in professional projects concerning sports, which ultimately contributes to the benefit of the community. It is no secret that Sliema residents and others will benefit from this financial help as the re-allocation of this sports complex in Tigne will be housing various sports disciplines, both outdoor and indoor, including football, rugby, basketball, volleyball, handball, netball, and futsal.

This means that many organizations and residents alike, from young to old, in the surrounding areas of Sliema, will soon be able to frequent this complex and enjoy their time in a healthy and pleasant environment.
