Joint-statement by Premier League presidents

The presidents of the ten clubs of the BOV Premier League issued a statement to categorically deny allegations by Hon. Jean-Pierre Farrugia in Parliament on June 8th. Farrugia had claimed that Premier League club presidents could be fixing matches in order to generate income for their clubs through betting.

The Premier League club presidents stressed they dedicate their time and energy in trying to have the clubs on a sound administrative and financial basis and are disappointed that a Member of Parliament makes such allegations without giving any proof for his statement. With this statement, he was only giving the general public a wrong perception for the detriment of local clubs.

These presidents encourage Hon. Farrugia to refer any information with regards to his allegations to the competent authorities in order to assure transparency in the top division.
