Hibernians celebrate 50th anniversary from first championship

Hibernians Football Club will be celebrated the 50th anniversary from the first ever championship in the history of the club with a thanksgiving mass which will be held at Parish Church on Wednesday 22nd June at 18:00.

Former players and committee members who were part of the team in season 1960/61 and the relatives of those who passed away are invited to attend.

A commemorative plaque will then be unveiled at the main hall of the club’s premises by President Tony Bezzina.

The Executive Committee takes this opportunity to thank the committee members and players who led the team towards this success. The club was the first to represent Malta in European football, meeting Servette of Switzerland.

The club’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday 24th at 19:30. The main focus will be on the club’s 90th anniversary since its foundation.

Meanwhile Hibernians Supporters Club will be organising a BBQ for members and supporters at the New Melita Gardens, Qawra on Friday 15th July from 20:00 onwards.

Tickets for €15 may be obtained from Hibernians Supporters Club committee members and from the Bar of the Hibs Nursery.
