Winners of Best Players, Fair Play awards announced

The winners of the Best Player Awards for all divisions from the First to the Third Division, Women’s League and Futsal were announced during a meeting of the Council of the Malta Football Association which was held on Wednesday. The winners of the Fair Play awards and the Top Scorers for the various divisions were also announced.

Mqabba striker John Paul Muscat won the Best First Division Player award ahead of Lija Athletic’s Daniel Scerri and Luke Micallef of Melita.

Adam Smeir of Rabat Ajax emerged as winner in the Best Second Division Player award. Adrian Carabott (Zejtun) and Matthew Vella (Mellieha) placed second and third respectively.

In Division 3, Luqa St. Andrew’s striker Lee Baldacchino won the Best Third Division Player award ahead of Gharghur’s Malcolm Tirchett and Fgura United’s Matthew Spiteri.

Zach Muscat of Pietà Hotspurs won the Best Youth Player award. Bjorn Kristensen and Triston Caruana, both of Hibernains, placed second and third respectively.

Rachael Cuschieri (Birkirkara) was voted Best Female Player ahead of Rebecca D’Agostino (Mosta) and Antoinette Sammut (Mgarr United).

Three ZC Excess players took the top three places in Best Futsal Player award. Florin Anton won the award ahead of Carlos Scicluna and Clint Cope.
