Eighteen youngsters from the Under-17 team of Zejtun Corinthians Youth Nursery are currently attending a five-day training camp in Giardini Naxos, Sicily.
Besides the various training sessions with their coach Joe Attard, the youths also took part in a triangular tournament with two Sicilian teams, AS Giardini Naxos and ASD Sporting Taormina. The results for the Zejtun team were excellent as they shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in the first game and then won 7-0 in the second. This meant that Zejtun will bring the Trofeo Giardini Naxos 2011 all the way to Malta.
This first international experience for the Youth Nursery will be serving as a stepping stone for the players and the committee for further positive experiences in the immediate future. The players were joined also by the technical staff and committee members for this camp to help in further networking for other initiatives the Nursery is planning as part of this year’s programme of activities.
The Nursery will soon be issuing a call for applications for boys and girls aged 5 to 16 willing to join in the training sessions in the upcoming season.
