Mosta girls to take part in UEFA Women's Champions League qualifiers next month

Women’s First Division League champions Mosta will be taking part in Group 5 the qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. A mini-tournament which will be played in Subotica, Serbia between Thursday 11 and Tuesday 16 August.

Taking part in the mini-tournament besides Mosta and hosts ŽFK Spartak Jaffa are Glasgow City LFC of Scotland and KÍ Klaksvík of the Faroe Islands.

Mosta take on Klaksvik in the first game on August 11, then Glasgow City on August 13 and finally Spartak on August 16.

The draws for the Qualifying round were held last month and were as follows:

All eight group winners plus the two best runners-up will proceed to the draw for the rounds of 32 and 16 on 23 August, with the two-legged knockout phase beginning the following month.

Mosta will be the second club to represent Malta in the competition. Birkirkara took part in 2007 and 2009, suffering heavy defeats in both mini-tournaments.
