The Birkirkara women’s team were the first team to take part in the www.givelife.com.mt campaign which encourages sports teams to donate blood to the National Blood Transfusion Service. Nine players and two coaches participated in this noble act by donating blood.
This campaign launched by Stephen Gatt, boasting Andrew Hogg as its ambassador is aimed at encouraging sports people and the general sporting public to organise groups in donating blood.
Mr. Johann Scicluna, Birkirkara FC women’s team coach explained that players should help in donating blood and urge other people to donate. He also said that for the next season his team will wear t-shirts with the www.givelife.com.mt logo on it before games.
Mr. Scicluna donated an official Birkirkara shirt to Alex Lautier S.R.N., who thanked the group for the generous donation. Mr. Lautier stressed that at this moment there is a shortage of blood and encouraged everyone to go the blood transfusion service near St. Lukes Hospital to donate blood.
