Valletta Under-12s reach quarter-finals in Gasteiz Cup

The Valletta Under-12 side was eliminated from the quarter-finals of the Gastiez Cup after losing on penalties to Spanish side AD Calasanz.

Jan Busuttil put Valletta ahead but the Citizens conceded the equaliser two minutes from half-time. Zack Dimech made it 2-1 for Valletta. Valletta had Jeffrey Okpara sent off and a few minutes later, AD Calasanz were awarded a penalty but goalkeeper Matteo Sammut performed a great save. However the made a stupendous save. In stoppage time, the Spanish side restored equilibrium. Valletta lost the penalty shoot-out 5-4.

In their first game, the Valletta boys lost 6-4 to Cracks FC of Mexico. Valletta took the lead through Isaak Muscat and after their opponents levelled matters, Jan Busuttil made it 2-1. Cracks scored twice to turn the score in their favour but Muscat scored again to make it 3-3. A penalty put the Mexican side 4-3 ahead with Busuttil equalising for Valletta. Just two minutes from time, the Citizens conceded two goals to end up losing the game.

In the second game, a goal by Isaak Muscat gave Valletta a 1-0 win over Ibia Alaves while in the third one, Valletta registered a fine 6-1 win over ADC Abetxuko of Spain. A brace by Lydon Pisani and a goal by Jan Busuttil put the City boys three goals ahead by the end of the first half. The Spanish side pulled one back early in the second half but goals by Pisani, Jan Busuttil and Zack Dimech gave Valletta a comfortable win.
