Sigma Hibernians Tournament kicks-off

The Sigma Hibernians Tournament kicked-off on Wednesday with the first two matches as Balzan Youths defeated Qormi 4-1 and hosts Hibernians beat Marsaxlokk 2-0.

In the first match, an early goal paved the way for newly-promoted Balzan Youths to register a fine win over Qormi.

Daniel Salavin put the Youths ahead on four minutes and seven minutes from the end of the first half, Ronald John Emeka doubled the score. The Qormi goalkeeper committed an own goal to put Balzan 3-0 ahead five minutes after the break and Pedro Dos Santos Calcado added another on 77 minutes. Luke Sciberras scored a consolation goal for Qormi five minutes from time.

On the other hand, two first half goals by Triston Caruana and Edward Herrera on 8 and 13 minutes respectively gave the Paolites a 2-0 win over Marsaxlokk.

Another two matches will be played on Friday. Balzan take on Hibs at 19:00 while Qormi face Marsaxlokk at 21:00.
