Rabat Ajax strengthen squad ahead of First Division campaign

With three weeks to go for the end of the transfer market, Rabat Ajax, who are under the Presidency of Dr. Michael Sciriha for the fourth consecutive season, had a busy summer in view of the forthcoming First Division campaign.

Goalkeeper Sean Mintoff has signed for Rabat after playing for Lija Athletic last season while Valletta midfielder and former Under 19 National player Clifford Gauci also joined Rabat for a one year loan. Hibernians youngster Yan Cauchi re-joined the Magpies for another one year loan after enjoying a five month loan spell with Rabat last season.

Albanian playmaker Vilson Cauchi is back with the Magpies after two seasons with Mqabba FC. Caushi has already played for Rabat Ajax in the First Division in season 2009/10. An English Defender is expected to sign for the Magpies in the coming days.

As regarding players who left the club to join other teams mainly in the Second Division except for goalkeeper James Borg who joined Third Division outfit Mgarr United and Adam Wingfield who joined Mtarfa FC. On the other hand, William Borg joined Mellieha SC, Dalton Wingfield and Emmanuel Muscat joined St. Venera Lightnings, Darren Galea extended his loan to Attard FC for another season and Josef Tonna has joined Gudja United.

Meanwhile former Rabat Ajax defender Joe Galea ‘iz-Zenga’ was appointed Assistant Coach to coach Silvio Vella.
