Qormi ask MFA to investigate Shodiya transfer

Qormi FC have asked the Malta Football Association to investigate the signing of Nigerian striker Shola Shodiya by Birkirkara FC.

Birkirkara have announced on Saturday that the Nigerian player, who had started the pre-season with Qormi and played for them in friendly matches and the Hibernians Tournament, had signed a one-year contract with the club.

In a statement, Qormi said the player could not be registered due to visa problems and problems to obtain international clearance.

In the mean time, Shodiya had left the place where he was offered to stay by Qormi FC and attempts by club officials to meet his agent proved futile.

For this reason, Qormi are urging the MFA to investigate his signing and find out whether there were irregularities in order to make surr that his registration was in conformity with regulations.
