Tarxien, Hamrun aim to collect first points

Tarxien Rainbows and Hamrun Spartans will be aiming at collecting their first points in the BOV Premier League after two rounds of matches as the two teams cross swords in one of the two matches in programme at the Hibernians Stadium on Sunday.

The Spartans had actually won their first game against Balzan Youths but the MFA Protests Board turned the result in a 2-0 win for Balzan over the ineligibilty of Hamrun’s Daniel Zerafa who was included as a substitute on the 90th minute.

They lost the second game to champions Valletta and are now keen to bounce back with a win over the Rainbows.

Tarxien had a good performance in their first outing against Valletta but then disappointed in the game against Floriana. Like Hamrun, the Rainbows are eager to start collecting their first points.

Karl Pulo should be able to make his first appearance for Noel Coleiro’s side while Lee James Agius should be back for the Spartans after missing the last game through suspension.

Meanwhile in the second game, Floriana take on Sliema Wanderers in the Old Firm derby.

The Greens obtained maximum points from their first two matches after defeating Mqabba and Tarxien Rainbows. On the other hand, Sliema shared the spoils in a draw with Hibernians before beating Mqabba in the second game. A win for Floriana would put them on top with leaders Valletta while a win for the Blues would enable them to join Hibernians in second place, two points behind the leaders.

Christian Caruana is ruled out for the Greens after sustaining an injury. On the other hand, Alex Muscat and Rumen Galabov should be able to make their first appearance for the Blues.
