Another positive report for Maltese referees

Another positive report by UEFA to Maltese referees was given this week to a refereeing team led by international referee Alan Mario Sant, in connection with last Tuesday’s European Championship Group 3 Under-21 match played in Podgorica (Montenegro) betwen Montenegro and Wales.

UEFA’s Referee Observer, Mr Vladimir Hrinak from Slovakia, had words of praise for Alan Mario Sant’s control, who had Alan Camilleri and Mitchell Scerri as assistant referees and Fyodor Zammit as fourth official.

But the most striking observation is regarding the unusually high mark of 8.6 given to FIFA Assistant Referee Alan Camilleri for his correct judgement of two difficult offside situations in the 65th and 88th minute which resulted in two important goals for Montenegro – in the first instance they equalised the score and in the second one sealed the issue 3-1.

In this match, Mitchell Scerri and Fyodor Zammit were making their international debut.
