Qormi test for Floriana

Floriana will be aiming for the three points in their bid to move on top the BOV Premier League table as they face Qormi in one of the two matches in programme at the Hibernians Stadium.

The Greens are currently second, on level points with Valletta, one behind leaders Hibernians. They won four of the five matches played so far and are coming from a comfortable 4-0 win over Marsaxlokk in their last outing.

However Qormi will definitely offer Floriana a stiff challenge considering that they are coming from two important wins over Tarxien Rainbows and Hamrun Spartans and another win on Friday would put them on level points with the Greens.

The injured Christos Karamanolis and Giuseppe Vela are ruled out for Qormi but former Floriana striker Daniel Nwoke should be leading the attack together with the in-form Jorge Pereira da Silva. Floriana, on the other hand, should be in full strength.

The second match is a clash between two teams who disappointed in recent outings – Marsaxlokk and Birkirkara.

Marsaxlokk collected four points in a win over Mosta and a draw with Sliema but lost to Hibernians, Mqabba and Floriana. Birkirkara, on the other hand, won the first two games against Qormi and Mosta but then lost to Hibernians and Sliema, collecting a point in a draw with Mqabba. A win is therefore a must for both sides.

Leading Birkirkara from the bench would be care-taker coach Peter Pullicino following the termination of the contract of coach Patrick Curmi by mutual consent. Ironically, Pullicino played for Marsaxlokk last season.

Clive Brincat will be back for Marsaxlokk after serving a three-match ban.
