Irish referees for BOV Premier League matches

Four officials from Northern Ireland travelled to Malta to control two matches from the BOV Premier League as part of the referees exchange between the Malta FA and the Irish FA.

Referees Ross Dunlop and Mervyn Smyth, and assistant referees Tony Sharkey and David Hamilton will be controlling matches on Sunday 16 and Monday 17 October.

On Sunday 16, Ross Dunlop will referee the game between Tarxien Rainbows and Marsaxlokk, and the following day Mervyn Smyth will take charge of the Mosta vs Hibernians match.

Irish FA Referee Development Officer, Alan Snoddy, said “We have developed close ties in recent years with the Malta F A having held out training camp there a few years ago, and also helped with developing refereeing structures within their National Association. We see this exchange as benefitting the younger referees in both countries giving them experience abroad in a different environment.”

Referee Kevin Azzopardi together with assistant referees Christopher Francalanza and Mitchell Scerri together with Andre Arciola as Fourth Official, will be controlling the Carling Premiership match between Dungannon Swifts and Donegal Celtic FC on Saturday 15 at Stangmore Park.
