Liverpool Academy training camp being held in partnership with Qormi Nursery

Details about the Liverpool Academy Training Camp 2011 which is being held between the 1st and 3rd November in Malta and on the 5th November in Gozo were given during a press conference which was held on Monday at the Dolmen Resort Hotel in Qawra.

Qormi Youth Nursery chairman Victor Camilleri explained that the training camp being held for children aged five to fourteen was made possible thanks to the co-ordination between the Qormi FC Youth Nursery and the Liverpool Supporters Club Malta, in particular Supporters Club president Charles Farrugia.

A group of coaches from the Liverpool FC Academy, under the leadership of Head Coach David Ridler, are leading the training sessions.

Camilleri said that this training camp is hopefully the first step towards building a stronger relationship with one of the best youth academies in the world.

Liverpool Supporters Club (Malta) general secretary James Vella introduced Liverpool International School Head Coach David Ridler and the other six coaches who will be leading the training sessions at the Qormi Youth Nursery and in Gozo.

Vella said that players like Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Jamie Garragher and Steven Gerard were products of the Liverpool Academy which has been working hard recently to spread the club’s reputation around the world, proving top level training for young players in the various countries in partnership with local clubs.

He went on to reveal that thanks to the collaboration between Liverpool FC, Liverpool Supporters Club Malta and Qormi FC Youth Nursery, two young players will be selected to go to Liverpool for training sessions at the Liverpool Academy in Kirby.

Head Coach David Ridler said the training camp will give the children the opportunity to experience the coaching of the Liverpool Academy and have fun without any element of competition.

The seven Liverpool coaches will be assisted by Qormi FC Head Coach and Nursery Technical Director Stephen Azzopardi, Qormi FC technical advisor Steve D’Amato, Youth Nursery Head Coach Edward Micallef and the Qormi Youth Nursery coaches.
