First Division side Naxxar Lions have appointed Winston Muscat as their new coach.

Muscat started the season with Marsaxlokk but tendered his resignation just over a week ago. He led Vittoriosa Stars for the past two years and before had coached St. Patrick also in Division 1.

The Lions had started this season under the guidance of coach Alex Delia who led the club to two consecutive promotions from Division 3 to Division 2 and from Division 2 to Division 1. Brazilian coach Jairo Swirsky took over after the first league game.

Naxxar are currently second from bottom in the BOV First Division with four points from six matches.
