BOV Women’s League: B’Kara, Mosta keep marching on

Joint-leaders Birkirkara and Mosta moved nine points clear ahead of third-placed Hibernians as both registered comfortable wins in the BOV Women’s First Division.

Birkirkara beat Marsa 9-0 while Mosta defeated Pembroke Athleta 5-0. Hibernians, on the other hand, lost 2-3 to Gozo.

The leaders lead the way with 24 points but Birkirkara have a game in hand. Hibs are third on 15, followed by Pembroke on 12, Gozo 7 and Marsa 0.

In the BOV Women’s Second Division, the top four teams all claimed maximum points from their games. Leaders Mgarr United defeated St. Venera Yellow Blues 2-0 while Hamrun Spartans beat Melita 3-1.

Zurrieq registered a most comfortable 9-1 win over Zejtun Corinthians while Tarxien Rainbows beat Kirkop United 3-2. In another match, Lija / Iklin defeated Santa Lucia 5-0.

Mgarr lead the way with 27 points, followed by Hamrun and Zurrieq on 22, Tarxien 19, St. Venera 16, Kirkop 12, Melita 11, Lija / Iklin 9, Santa Lucia 4, Naxxar 2, Zejtun 1.

In the Under-16 Girls’ League, Hamrun Spartans moved two points behind leaders Pembroke Athelta as they defeated Kirkop United 2-0. Birkirkara beat Lija / Iklin 6-0 while Mosta defeated Melita 2-0.

Pembroke lead the way with 21 points, followed by Hamrun on 19, Birkirkara 18, Melita 11, Tarxien 10, Mosta 9, Zurrieq and Kirkop 7, Lija / Iklin 3 and Naxxar 0.
